What is the lifespan of pool plaster?
Pool plaster’s lifespan depends on a number of factors, including its quality, maintenance practices and overall conditions of the pool. On average, when installed and properly maintained, proper pool plaster should last between seven to 20 years.
As is true with any material, pool plaster will deteriorate over time due to factors like water chemistry, sunlight exposure and regular use. Hence, maintenance costs could rise over time with increased use.
Maintaining proper water chemistry to extend the lifespan of pool plaster requires regular testing and balancing of pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness levels as well as brushing/cleaning of pool surfaces regularly without using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools – these practices will all extend its life significantly.
If you notice cracks, roughness, or discoloration in your pool surface, resurfacing could be necessary to maintain its structural integrity and aesthetics. Consult with an experienced pool contractor in order to assess its condition and determine the appropriate course of action.
